💌 Hello from The Nugget

If you’re wondering how The Molesey Nugget came to be… well here goes, I had zero experience. I’m a gardener running a small business here in Molesey, and I’m often out and about in the community, meeting people, chatting in front gardens (I’m frequently stopped whilst trimming a bush!) and connecting folks with tradespeople or each other.

One day, I happened to hear a podcast about a local newsletter in America, and suddenly I found myself down a rabbit hole thinking, “I can do that.” I didn’t even own a laptop until July, and I had no clue about tech, every step has been self-taught, mostly thanks to YouTube and a certain helpful AI. I honestly didn’t know what button to press or when, but here we are, a few months later, and I’m loving it.

The idea was simple: bring together the stories, events, and little nuggets of Molesey life that make our community tick — all in one place, straight to your inbox.

From the very first edition on 25 September 2025, sent to 38 trusted friends and family, to the edition on 17 December 2025, sent to 542 members of our community, the growth has been incredible.

In its first three months, The Molesey Nugget has featured over 200 local events, from Christmas fairs and church services to toddler groups, workshops, fitness classes, and community fundraisers.

Along the way, the Nugget has:

I curate the news from trusted sources and people in our community, no hearsay, no clickbait. I search high and low for events, and now that people are sending them in weekly, it really helps (please keep them coming!). For now, just reply to any of my emails /Newsletters to get in touch, I’m in the process of setting up some dedicated addresses.

I have also started to spend time meeting local business owners, working out how we can support each other and build something sustainable. I hope The Nugget will give Molesey a place to discover trusted trades, local experts, and brilliant small businesses. If we look after local, we really can all thrive. I will be out and about doing more of this in January, while the plants are resting.

Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, and supported The Molesey Nugget so far. Your encouragement has been amazing, and this really does feel like just the beginning.

In 2026, I’m hoping to reach 1,000 subscribers, feature even more events and initiatives, and keep connecting locals with the people, places, and stories that make Molesey such a special place to live.

I want to keep the Nugget free for all, because accessibility and community come first. Alongside that, I’m exploring some optional extras — things like digital downloadable guides, directories, and other features. Plus different ways to get us all meeting up in person more often.

I’m also toying with the idea of a Molesey Nugget online shop — a place that brings together small local businesses with amazing products, all in one spot. Nothing big or flashy — just a simple way to support local makers and help people discover great things on their doorstep. 💛
