I’ve had some lovely emails this week from readers who are enjoying The Nugget, thank you so much, your feedback really does matter, and helps me to shape each edition as our numbers grow.
I’ve also started to have messages from local business owners, and we are discussing ways to connect with you and share the fun of Molesey. Community Spotlight: East Elmbridge Foodbank — More Than Just Food
Nestled at the heart of our community, the East Elmbridge Foodbank is doing more than handing out emergency supplies — it’s offering hope, dignity, and connection. Every week, volunteers welcome local people who need help, often families, with one or two adults who are both working. They are provided with three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food on a pick your own basis a choice of essentials, and access to support services like financial advice, mental health help, and housing guidance.
Through its More Than Food programme, the foodbank addresses the root causes of hardship, ensuring people don’t just survive — they rebuild. Plans are even underway for a permanent community hub with counselling rooms, a café, and shared spaces.
But it’s a growing challenge. Rising living costs mean more people need help. You can support by donating food, volunteering, or giving financially. Every contribution strengthens our neighbourhood. You can learn more about it on the website East Elmbridge foodbank or follow them on instagram here
