About The Molesey Nugget

Hi — I'm Jules 👋

I'm a Molesey mum who's read one too many menopause books and decided that as 50 creeps into view, life probably needed a bit of a shake-up.

By day, I run a local garden maintenance business — so if you spot someone balancing precariously on a ladder, or having a quiet word with a row of dahlias in someone's front garden… that'll be me. I'm usually a bit muddy, a bit knackered, but always up for a chat!

I arrived in Molesey about 7 years ago, and I live here with my partner and our young son. I like to keep active, and I'm always on the lookout for things to do locally — which, if you've ever tried to piece that together from Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats and half-updated websites… you'll know isn't always that straightforward.

That's where The Molesey Nugget came from.

🧾 What actually goes into it

What started as a bit of an experiment has turned into a weekly email read by hundreds of people across East & West Molesey.

Each week I pull together local news, events, useful bits, and the kind of things you might otherwise miss — writing it all up and getting it out into your inbox before Wednesday rolls around again.

There are quite a few behind-the-scenes costs (newsletter host platforms, website bits, email accounts, highlighters, and the general nuts and bolts of running it all).

And time-wise… it's a fair chunk each week. I usually do around 8–10 hours putting it all together.

For now, it's very much a labour of love. But I'm hoping it will become another local business for me, and help save me from crawling round the gardens of Molesey for at least a few hours a week.

📛 Why it exists

The aim is simple:

  • Make it easier to know what's going on locally

  • Help people find things to do

  • Support and spotlight brilliant local businesses and make advertising individual

  • Keep things useful, but still feel like a good read

No doom scrolling. No noise. Just the good stuff, once a week.

🌱 Where it's heading

I'm slowly building The Nugget into something a bit more sustainable — without losing what makes it feel local and genuine.

That means a mix of things over time, like:

  • working with local businesses and partners

  • putting on events and experiences locally

  • and giving people the option to support it directly if they'd like to

If I ever recommend a business or include someone in here, it's because I genuinely think they're worth knowing about. That doesn't mean everything will always be perfect — but they come with a strong start from me.

☕️ Want to support it?

The Nugget will always be free to read.

But if you enjoy it each week and fancy supporting what I'm building, you can now do that with a small monthly contribution — a bit like "buy me a coffee," just on a regular basis.

No extras, no paywalls — just a way to help keep it going.

Totally optional, of course.

📬 Thanks for being here

Whether you support it financially or just read it each week — it honestly means a lot.
